Coaching Information for 2020 – Courses and Certifications

Please note – if you are coaching for Stratford Softball Association, we will cover your cost.  You must notify us of your coaching intentions prior in order to be eligible for funding.

Below are the coaching requirements for the various levels and age categories of Softball PEI for the 2020 softball season.

If you are coaching Club Level and/or A teams at U8, U10, U12, U14, U16, U19 levels

  1. Complete the Foundations of Coaching Part 1 (online – $10) https://softball.ca/onlinelearning/foundations
  2.  Complete Making Ethical Decisions
    1. Sunday May 17, 2020 – Sport PEI – Make Ethical Decisions Register: https://thelocker.coach.ca/event/registration/4127 ($30)
    2. Home Study – Many of the NCCP modules are available for Home Study but not all. Please contact for more information (Lynn Boudreau lboudreau@sportpei.ca) ($50)
    3. After completing Step 1 and 2 you are able to attend one of the following Ongoing Participation Softball Courses. ($100)
      1. Ongoing Participation – June 13th Donagh Regional School 9:00 am – 6:30 pm
      2. Ongoing Participation – June 14th Montague High School 9:00 am – 6:30 pm
      3. Ongoing Participation – June 20th Three Oaks High School 9:00 am – 6:30 pm

If you are coaching Club AA level at the U12 or the U14 level, attending an Eastern Canadian or Canadian Championship.

(Please note as of 2020 Softball Canada requires both Head and Assistant Coach to be Competition – Introduction Certified).

  1. Complete the Foundations of Coaching Part 1 and Part 2 (online $25) https://softball.ca/onlinelearning/foundations
  2. Complete Making Ethical Decisions

    2. Home Study

  3. After completing Step 1 and 2 you are able to attend both required weekends for Competition – Introduction Weekend 1 and 2.
    1. Competition – Introduction Weekend 1 – May 2nd – 3rd (9:00 – 5:00pm) Donagh Regional School ($125)
    2. Competition – Introduction Weekend 2 – June 6th – 7th (9:00 – 5:00pm) Three Oaks High School ($125)
  4. Complete Making Ethical Decisions online evaluation – This is can be completed as soon as the coach has completed the course.
  5. Certification – Head Coach for AA teams/Head Coach and Assistant coach for teams attending Canadian Championships
    1. Coaching Portfolio – this will be provided during Competition – Introduction Weekend 1 and needs to be submitted by the Saturday morning of Competition – Introduction Weekend 2.
    2. Practice Plan – submitted two weeks prior to practice evaluation
    3. Practice evaluation – based on the submitted practice plan.
    4. Cost – $80 plus .30 km mileage for the Coaching Portfolio + Practice Plan + Practice Evaluation.
