Foundations of Coaching Softball E-Module

All coaches will need to take an online e-module called “Foundations of Coaching”.  Foundations of Coaching Softball is Softball Canada’s first online National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) module developed to introduce new and experienced coaches to the foundational skills of coaching and softball-specific coaching concepts, such as: developing a coaching philosophy, Long-Term Player Development, working with players and their parents, the coaching process, and player safety.  Stratford Softball Association will look after the payment of this course for all of their coaches.  Please save any receipts for reimbursement.

Making Ethical Decisions (MED)

A necessary course needed to help coaches make decisions that are ethical and justified given different circumstances and how to communicate effectively. If you have already taken MED with another sport you do not need to take it twice. The link below is how you register for this particular course through Sport PEI. Stratford Softball Association will look after the payment of this course for all of their coaches.  Please save any receipts for reimbursement.

Face to Face Clinics

  • Course Date and Location: Saturday June 15th Donagh Regional School 9:00 – 6:00pm
Competition – Introduction Weekend 1 ($125) – What to Coach
This course is required if you plan on coaching ball at a higher level other than club ball (house league).  You do not need to take the Community Sport Course if you Take Competition Weekend 1 and 2.  Stratford Softball Association will look after the payment of this course for all of their coaches.
  • Course Date and Location: Saturday and Sunday June 1/2 Donagh Regional School
Competition – Introduction Weekend 2 ($125) – How to Coach
Stratford Softball Association will look after the payment of this course for all of their coaches.

*Coaches can opt to take Competition-Introduction Wk 1 instead of taking Ongoing Participation Course. The Comp-Intro course is a higher level course and some coaches would prefer more information and time on fundamental softball skills. Competition-Introduction Weekend 1 and 2 (Both Weekends) are a requirement if you are taking a team to an Eastern Canadian or a Canadian Championship from U12 and older.

*There is no charge for female coaches to take the Face to Face softball coaching courses, the Foundations of Coaching and Making Ethical Decisions courses need to be paid separately and it is up to your local associations if they are going to cover those costs.

Please email Mark Quinn back at quinner32@hotmail.com to register for any of the coaching courses and if you have any questions.
